Hariri Foundation partnered with the International Labor Organization (ILO) to launch a joint project targeting hundreds of children at risk of child labor and school dropouts across Lebanon. The partners collaborated to create and manage a database used to build a social support system for the working children and their families and to be used in policy advocacy and lobbying. The project targeted nearly 300 working children who were 14 to 17 years of age, providing them with an appropriate form of non-formal education.
The project also targeted children who were 10 to 13 years of age who are at risk of dropping out of school, providing them with an appropriate form of alternative remedial education. The partners also delivered awareness raising sessions to the targeted children, their parents and employers on issues related to child labor, work hazards, education and children’s rights.
