Following the Israeli massacre targeting civilian families in the Lebanese village of Qana in April 1996, Hariri Foundation established the Association for Children of the Martyrs of April ’96 to foster and support orphans and children who suffered from the Israeli attack, encouraging their upbringing within their families, integrating them in society, and helping them find jobs. Hariri Foundation undertook the reconstruction and restoration of demolished and damaged families’ homes.
For 18 years, it supported the association in the provision of healthcare, social, psychological, and educational welfare services to the targeted families. Hariri Foundation allocated a monthly salary to 89 sponsored children until they reached 22 years of age. Upon reaching legal age, every sponsored person received 25,000 USD to establish their own startup
