Inclusive Governance

In 2026, the Hariri Foundation, in partnership with the British Council, launches the “Youth Connect” programme under the theme “Inclusive Governance and Prevention of Violent Extremism.” The programme aims to strengthen youth participation in governance, local decision-making, and community development by equipping young people with practical skills in civic engagement, leadership, dialogue, research, communication, and social cohesion. The programme brings 120 participants to continue through its training and engagement activities.

The programme includes an intensive five-day bootcamp featuring interactive workshops, dialogue sessions, and collaborative activities addressing identity and belonging, diversity, inclusive governance, social cohesion, and the prevention of violent extremism. Participants explore the nine pillars of Lebanon’s National Strategy for Preventing Violent Extremism, identifying community priorities and developing research topics that contribute to the programme’s subsequent phases.

Local Governance

Youth Connect also focuses on strengthening local governance by promoting youth engagement with municipalities, public institutions, civil society organizations, and local decision makers. Through research, dialogue, mentorship, and youth-led initiatives, the programme encourages participatory approaches to identifying local challenges, developing community-driven solutions, and contributing to inclusive decision-making processes. It also integrates media and communication activities, including storytelling, content creation, and podcast production, to amplify youth perspectives and promote civic participation. These efforts aim to strengthen collaboration between youth and local institutions, support inclusive governance, and contribute to more resilient and cohesive communities across Lebanon.
