In 2008, Hariri Foundation partnered with the Association for Forests Development and Conservation (AFDC) and the Municipality of Kaitouly, to carry out a reforestation campaign in the village of Kaitouly, Jezzine. The campaign aimed at promoting reforestation as a sustainable solution to seasonal wildfires, such as that striking the village during the summer of 2008.
Over 100 local young volunteers were engaged in environmental awareness sessions and capacity building workshops to carry out reforestation works. Towards the end of the project, the volunteers planted 400 pine trees across the affected areas.
